The Order of the Companions was established to provide loving care and support to the lonely and isolated and now has even expanded beyond that.

As Companions we cater to people of all faiths/nonfaiths who are alone or feel isolated.  We often act as a conduit to those family members who may be in an Assisted Living Facility or Skilled Nursing Unit where the family members live too far away to provide help.  We are listeners, companions, facilitators using phone conversations or video conferences between the client and their loved one.  As one client put it, "there is a hole in the system between the facility help and the connection to life's other needs."  The companions fill that void.  He was simply stating that there was no one to help him get basic supplies that he needed like clothes he forgot, food, phone chargers or even something like a grab it tool so he can reach things while he is alone not able to get out of his bed etc.   Yet, most of our work is providing friendship and care by being present to those who feel abandoned.
